How to create an unlimited list of content ideas for your accounting firm
If you want to learn a way to have an (almost) unlimited number of topics to write about on social media and your blog, then this newsletter will reveal exactly how in less than 3 minutes…
This tactic works for virtually every accounting & bookkeeping firm on the planet.
Here it is…
Your best source of new content is the questions your clients ask you.
Because guess what?
For every 1 client asking the question, 9 other clients are sitting there wondering the same thing, and hundreds of potential prospects are all thinking the same.
“Can I put X through my business as an expense?”
“Will an Electric Vehicle bring my tax bill down?”
A few of many common questions I’m sure you’ve heard time and time again that could form the basis of some great content.
The idea of using client & customer questions for content was popularised by Marcus Sheridan’s Amazon best-selling book ‘They Ask, You Answer’’ (keep reading to see how you can win a free copy).
So how can you put this into practice in your accounting firm?
Create a content capture system
Set up an Asana/Trello board and share it with your team
Every time a client asks a question, add it to the board
If something is on there already, comment to 'upvote' it or indicate that it’s been asked more than once
Each month review the board and prioritise creating content based on the most popular questions/topics
And don’t worry, there’s no question too big or too small.
But the benefits of this approach extend well beyond marketing…
Because as well as using the content to attract new clients, you can use it to answer common questions your existing clients are asking.
Check out this incredible Youtube playlist Rachel Harris from StriveX Accountants has created as an example.
That’s all for today. Your one action item from this is to write down as many questions you can remember being asked by clients this week, and think about how you can turn them into a blog, video, or social media post.
Oh, and before I forget about your free book…
